The Medication assistant assists in activities and tasks related to medication management in all programs of the company.
Education & Experience
- University or college diploma as Pharmacy Assistant or similar topics - Canadian graduates are preferred.
- Working knowledge and at least 1 year of experience in pharmacy or health care setting in Canada, dealing with medications and prescriptions

- Physically fit and in excellent health.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with no restrictions and a good driving abstract is required.
- No criminal convictions, no adult and criminal charges pending.
- No history of improper conduct in all areas.
- Must be fluent in both verbal and written English.
- Must hold a First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Perfect communication skills.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminologies and medication administration.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
Roles and Responsibilities
1- Monitoring and review
- Reviews client binder and assists in maintaining accurate and up to date medication records for each patient. Ensures medication is stored properly, administered correctly, and documented completely by the staff. Checking medication if it is properly disposed in each program in a regular basis. Reports on any discrepancies in dispensing or administering medications. Monitors implementation of dosage or frequency changes, and reports any incidents or discrepancies. Helps in conducting regular audits of medication records to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
- Medication Dispensing Support
- Receives, reviews, and processes medication orders from healthcare providers.
- Assist in preparing and dispensing medications to programs accurately.
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medication.
- Maintain a secure and organized medication storage area.
- Inventory Management
- Communicates with Case Managers and staff in each program to ensure medication and medical supplies are enough.
- Receives and checks incoming medication supplies.
- Collaborate with the Medication Coordinator to place orders for medications and supplies.
- Administrative Tasks
- Performs administrative duties such as filling. record-keeping, and data entry.
- Training
- Assists in providing training to staff regarding medication management
- Medication Safety
- Adhere to medication protocols to prevent medication errors.
- Report any potential medication safety issues to the Medication Coordinator.
- Assists in Coordinating with pharmacist regarding individuals’ medications.
- Ensures home adhere to safety and other necessary medication management standards.
- Fulfills other tasks relevant to the job description that is not listed above but assigned by the Medication and Nursing Coordinator.

Contract length: 12 months, with possibility of renewal on an annual basis based on performance and company needs (we require long-term commitment for this position as the contract can be renewed indefinitely)
Pay Grade
Salary: $28.00 per hour
Probation
Three months. It can be extended for another three months if deemed to be insufficient to make a decision. examples include but is not limited to vacation or being off the work for more than one week.
Schedule and work hours
- Regular workdays will be Monday to Friday (9AM-5PM)

Note: Benefits will be provided upon successful completion of probation or after 3 months from the start in case of extension of probationary period.

Work Location
Head office is in Vancouver but the position requires daily travelling in Lower mainland area including Vancouver, Richmond, Tri-cities, New Westminster, Delta, and Surrey for monitoring and other purposes. Vehicle will be provided by the company.
